COMBAT MECHANICS
How things in combat work.
Dodging
Since all attacks are AE to some degree if you want to get the dodge bonus while a mob is on your pet just make sure you dodge while next to your pet when it attacks. I did that a lot while we were grouping, I would just get close and do a few dodges until I got the buff. [1]
Stealth
It seems pretty useless right now. You can hold shift and walk, stop, walk, stop to travel with it. You do do a little more damage from stealth so it doesn't hurt to start fights that way, especially if the mob roams into you. In our boss fights over the weekend I used it some while waiting for my special attacks to refresh to make them hit a bit harder. But at this point I'm going to leave 5 points in it and not boost it any more. [2]
PETS
Leveling Pets
Pets will level with you and save properly while playing on a local game. Pet levels that are gained while playing on a server will not be saved.
ADAPTING EQUIPMENT
Platinum Coins
These are used to take a low level item to your current power level. The only catch is, it labels the item adapted, after which it can not be level boosted again. So each item can only be done once. So I'm waiting for some an amazing item once I get up to where its taking 20-30 levels per power level. [3]
When I was lower level it was only like 30 coins. Now that I'm in my 30s it would cost several hundred coins per item (300 to 400 last I looked). [4] Now at even higher level I've seen costs jump to 1000s and one as high as 14,000 platinum coins. I may never be feasible to adapt up equipment since the costs rise faster then the coins you receive while leveling.
Platinum coins are gained by defeating the boss mob at daily quest points.
Where to Adapt Gear
I forgot to mention where to adapt gear with platinum coins. Head to the stone tower in any city (usually near the center) and talk to the guy with crossed swords above his head. Then you can select gear (right click) to see the adapting costs. The higher your level the more it costs and it costs more the lower the power level is of the item. [5]
Adapting Gear Down
You can adapt higher power level gear down to your level for free. So instead of holding on to a yellow level 80 item for 40 more levels, you could adapt it down and find a replacement in the next 40 levels. [6]
